She looked so peaceful. Her eyes were closed. She didn't speak any sadness. I did not want to wake her, afraid she would remember everything that brought her there.
Moments later, I spoke softly by her ear. She fought to open her heavy eyes. She looked at me and smiled.
"I was on a train. I dreamed I was on a train. It was going so fast and I was so happy."
I smiled and wanted to know more about her adventure.
She had no details. She only knew she was happy.
"I haven't been that happy in so many years."
Decades of her dark prison, and she was happy for just minutes of freedom.
I was so happy to be with her in those moments. I felt like the luckiest person on the planet, and wanted to frame the scene so that I would never forget it.
It should have been set to music with rolling credits.
If only this was the end.
